As the Junior Group 10 race ended, there were several ties. This was
the margin between making the podium and not - between 3rd & 4th
place!
|
5th and 6th places were even closer! Much of the racing was this close
all weekend!
|
Time for us 40+ "Geezers" to race! The qualifying heats
began at 7:30 AM Sat morning! Yikes! Steve Keopp filled in where needed
to assure equal number of cars in each heat. Paul Meiers of Slot Car
Bulletin grabbed my camera to shoot the pictures with me in them while
I raced.

Another of the 4 qualifying heats for the 40+ racers in the Group
10 event.
|
The racing was EXTREMELY close, with 3 closely matched cars per lane,
rotated like clockwork every heat. Making the main event would be
decided by track positions!
|
After my early morning heat race, I was able to attend the Track Owners
Seminar given by Marketing Consultant and slot racer Joseph Rosales.
|
Joe's seminar, titled: "A Successful Raceway... What's It Going
To Take?" presented a lot of informative ideas and discussion
for track owners. The seminar will be made available on tape soon
from Parma.
|
In another pair of rooms, Parma hosted a mini-TOA convention, with
displays from several slot car manufacturers and distributors.
Paul Meiers may not have
won an award for the best table display - but the free copies of
the latest Slot Car Bulletin magazine were sure a hit!
