Meanwhile, back in the first room, Alan had set up the Scalextric Drag Racing set on the floor, and had some competition going on trying out the drag strip and DS timing system.

Back down the hall, qualifying heat racing was going on all day long on Sat. Shown here Sat evening is the Future Masters Group 10 Main Event line-up.

The 40+ Group 10 Main Event line-up. Hey - who's that Old Weird Dude in the TQ position starting on red lane anyway?!?

mvc-503f_t.jpg 5.9K
After trailing in red lane, I eventually came back for a very tough battle for the podium positions, just sneaking past Jack Nickel for 2nd and almost reeling in Ben McGuire before I fell off. A VERY exciting race! Only 8 laps seperated 1st through 8th!

mvc-504f_t.jpg 5.2K
Next, the Masters Group 10 Main Event was even closer, with the top 3 podium spots all finishing within a lap! All 8 drivers were within only 6 laps at the finish, with many places decided by track position! It was Ken, Jeff, and Big Al, in a very exciting finish.

The 4.5" FCR NASCAR class proved to be a real challenge to drive, but again produced hair-splitting close racing! The Future Masters main event was the 2nd win for Gary Clinton Jr., followed by Eddie Beard and Mike Dennis.

This time that's me starting on the "bubble" in Black lane for the 4.5" FCR main event. The top 9 qualifiers were all within 2 laps, and I barely made it by track position! These cars were a blast to drive, and this time it was me barely holding off Ben McGuire and Don Bonanno for the win!

mvc-509f_t.jpg 6.2K
Now it was the Masters turn for their 4.5" FCR main event. This time Big Al Montoro edged Jeff Bonanno and then Ken Williams for the podium spots.

The Powder Puff 1st place trophy went to Deb Guindon. Deb practiced and turn marshalled, but was the only lady to enter this year! I thought about looking for a dress and a wig, but the beard would probably have given me away! C'mon guys - bring the gals next year!
