This is the car I built based on inspiration from this race. Its a Lancer Lotus 40 with air control inspired by Mike Morrissey's McLaren Elva in the first Rod and Custom race. Russkit interior, wheel inserts and exhaust pipes. Scratch built velocity stacks and roll bar.

The chassis is very similar to Mike's. The quide, braid, lead wires, motor can and endbell are Cox. I wound the arm with 65 turns of 30 ga Simco wire and used a Tradeship 11 degree com and magnets. The arm epoxy is coated and static balanced on razor blades. The blind can bearing was replaced by an endbell bearing The wheels and front tires are Russkit. The gear is a Weldon aluminum crown that showed up in race number 5. All of the components were mentioned in the text of the races or the tech sheets. I did, however, use Dynamic No.752 axle bearings instead of brass tube for the rear axle.

I built this car quite a while ago and ran it alot (when there were no kids with rental cars on the track). These early cars are reasonable to acquire parts for and build. They are also a blast to drive.
Thanks for looking,
Rick
